James Davis Blog #2

I’m currently on the road from Penn State to Philadelphia to film and photograph Dayglow “The World’s Largest Paint Party” night three. Dayglow at Penn State night number one went very smoothly. The performances were massive and attendance was high. I took over 2,500 photos, and after sorting through the ones I enjoyed dwindled the collection down to 275. Dayglow’s production has gotten to such an amazing level recently, featuring top of the line audio and visual production, stage performances with professional aerialists, and LED robots that spray paint and CO2. With all this occurring throughout the entire show it is extremely hard to capture every awesome moment. Usually the Dayglow media team and I communicate for coverage depending on the situation. For paint blasts and bigger production areas we coordinate where we will all be taking the shot so that there is no overlapping or repeated shots. After the event ended we ventured over to a venue called Levels to cover an after show. Levels had a very good vibe, great sound system, and the crowd was really feeling the music. Day two at Penn State started by spending most of the day editing and determining my favorites. Before I knew it, it was show time again and we had to head back over to the stadium. The shows at Penn State started earlier than usual, six o'clock, and ended around midnight due to campus regulations. Night two was a great way for me to try and get new shots that I wish I had gotten the night before.
