No Aid Without Modesty

America should not give foreign aid to an issue that we have not solved ourselves. With birth rates close to the replacement value, we have gotten into our heads that we are the ones who have the answer to the problem. However we are the ones causing it. Organizations like ACE and National Geographic have made it clear that it is not the population that is the problem, it is the recourses a single individual can consume. By reducing the world’s population we are simply giving ourselves an excuse to live large. We cannot come to a sustainable solution without allowing Americans to come to some form of modesty in their consumer habits. I am just as to blame as I write this on my laptop, drive my car and burn light bulbs late into the night.
