The U.S. should be a benefactor to other countries, especially those in poverty, to help prevent overpopulation. Poverty is the “umbrella” of all problems relating to the current population crisis. Information should be taught to less-educated citizens of undeveloped countries on how to prevent pregnancies, and how to lower fertility rates. Along with that, countries in poverty do not have the new technology and medicine providing efficient contraceptives. It would be beneficial to inform the citizens of the new advances and give them these new technologies. They should also be offered family planning programs and sex education (similar to Mexico’s population policy). Rather than sending money to undeveloped countries where it isn’t guaranteed where it will end up, it is more reasonable to send teachers. The U.S. can’t control the cultural differences from country to country, but by providing education on the realities of the population crisis and how individuals can help with a few simple steps, there will be a growing change.
