The United States itself does not have its own foreign policy. Giving money will not necessarily increase other countries strive to control population growth. Just because a country has money, for example the United States, does not mean they will put that money towards controlling the growth of their population. The money given to these other countries from the United States would easily be helpful in many other situations. If the United States is going to give foreign aid to other countries to slow population growth, there must be restraints on where the money can be used. Before the aid is given, a thoroughly researched guideline of where the money is going to be put needs to be set in place. The restrictions to where the money goes cannot conflict with any cultural guidelines of the country or religious guidelines. Each country’s outline would need to be different and agreed upon by that country so it does not seem like western views are being imposed. Even though all of this would be necessary if money was to be given out, I do not think it will be the most effective way to go about slowing population growth. I also believe the United States needs to establish their own policy before they try to make others have one, it would be hypocritical.
