Somali Food Giveaway...

Somali people are currently going through a situation so disastrous that I find myself disgusted that I just ate ice cream as a treat when these people have nothing. When I finished the article and learned that al-Qaeda went and “gave aid” to the Somali people, I was so outraged I wanted to scream. Al-Qaeda has a known connection or alliance with al-Shabab, who are stopping western aid from getting in and helping the starving people. Al-Qaeda might have thought they were being clever, instructing al-Shabab to stop aid coming in and then al-Qaeda members show up with aid, ready to save the day. Maybe they were hoping that if they were the ones giving aid, the people would see al-Qaeda in a positive light, maybe even deciding to join their organization. If that was what they thought they were doing, they probably should have tried to keep their obvious connection with the “legitimate leaders” of Somalia. The whole world is aware that they are stopping almost all aid from getting to these dying and starving people, and they aren’t fooling anyone. They might also be hoping to recruit by trading for food… If you accept aid from al-Qaeda, the only aid available, you must be part of their organization… Whether that is their master plan or not, we should be doing something more than sending aid that is being blocked.
