Looking back at the war in Iraq, I believe our time spent there was not a success. The initial deployment into Iraq to search for weapons of mass destruction was a complete failure only straining ties with the Middle East, because the evidence leaked to the United States clearly was not substantial enough to invade a country. After this mission's failure, the troops should have been taken out of Iraq. One may argue that keeping troops in Iraq to fight and locate key members of Al Queda tied to Iraq may be a supporting factor for keeping the troops in Iraq, but I think it’s overstepping our bounds to invade a country with no direct evidence of these ties. I don’t think the war in Iraq is making Americans safer if anything it is straining the relations, which could lead to an escalation of attacks on United States soil. While troops are deployed our country is also sending lots of Soldiers who won’t return.
