The words "Complete Failure" come to mind...

How do we measure success? Because if we’re measuring success against our original goals, we can say with 100% accuracy that there were no WMD’s in Iraq. However if we are aiming for a stable democracy, then we have failed miserably. The war in Iraq has killed too many Americans, and too many more Iraqis. And has not even put a dent in the War on Terror. It has not even successfully worked to spread democracy. However, while the words complete and total failure come to mind, it does not mean that defeat is a bad thing. America enjoys the idea that it’s wars are fair and justified and so victory should be fair and justified. However, now that we have admitted to ourselves that this war was not justified, removing our troops is a joyous occasion where we can celebrate our countries’ common sense instead of it’s disregard for global decency. It will be interesting to see how Iraqi government takes shape and if it can retain any of the democratic ideals that America tried and failed to instill in it.
