Was the Irag War a success
I do not believe the wear was a success, solely because i do not think the start of the Iraq "war" was justified. Going to war against countries or groups of terrorist could be very much justifiable, but the way America went into Iraq after 9/11 seemed irrational. It seemed though the terrorist groups that triggered our main involvement in the middle east did not have much to do with the actual countries there. Yet America seemed to destabilize the countries for a while, create internal problems that were non-existant before, and become an imperialist nation that pushed democracy on areas that were not willing to except. On top of that, much of the war fighting transferred into the controlling of land and many of the people in the middle east felt threatened just by our presence. On top of that the cost of the war was exponential. The amount of money and resources used to fight the Iraq war exceeded that of many past conflicts. It was one reason for America's economic downfall and certainly has had other major effects. Lastly the number of U.S. casulties have far greatly surpassed that of what I think the number should have been. War brings death, that is evident, but I think many deaths were avoidable by better planning and insertion into the country.
