Chomsky vs Friedman

Chomsky describes how globalization forces countries to import subsidized food from the west which then hurts local farmers and drives them out of business. The farmers then have to move to the city and become cheap labor, then replacing western manufacturing. He says that the poor are hurt and the "important" people are benefited.
Friedman talks about the three eras of globalization. The first was by countries, the second by companies and the third by individuals. He describes how it is individuals who are now part of a global community and are interacting, and competing with other individuals from around the globe.
I agree with Friedman that individuals are now all part of a global community and are interacting and competing with other individuals from around the globe. This is true for people looking for a job at a multi national corporation, and it is true for us too. For example, when applying to colleges many of us will compete with international students, not just local students. Individual globalization has definitely begun and is clearly prevalent everywhere.
