Globalization
Before reading the articles that we read in class today I thought that globalization was purely beneficial. I thought that it was a great way to spread different information and cultures to various parts of the world. However, some of the arguments used in both the "Yes" and the "No" readings changed my opinion of that. I felt that overall the arguments used to say that globalization was good were not very strong. One of their only major points was the fact that globalization doesn't only benefit the rich but also the poor. This is a strong argument; however, the article mainly just talks about this in reference to China and India (only two countries). In reading the "No" article, I discovered these arguments to be much more powerful as well as plausible. The author poses the threat that having one single super power (which is often a result of globalization) can be a really bad thing because it further increases the distance between third and first world countries. The article also talked about various and severe problems that could arise from globalization such as threats of diseases and climate change, drug trafficking, and the spread of extremist ideologies. Without globalization, there would really be no way that these negative issues could impact other countries. Mainly because of the arguments that we read about today in class, I'd have to say that globalization can be very bad.

Carolyn It was great how you introduced your post with the positive aspects of globalization and throughout the entry began to demonstrate the negative aspects of globalization as well. It really identified how your opinion changed.
