Still Learning

As many others have already said, I don't think I know enough of the background to make an educated decision on the topic of globalization. There are many positive and negative pieces to the puzzle that we learned about while reading the article and sharing the ideas earlier today. The two biggest ideas that moved me towards positive were that it creates competition/feeds growth, and that it brings things to nations that they would not necessarily have without globalization. On the side of creating competition and feeding growth globalization brings companies and products to other countries which force the domestic companies to come up with new ideas and push the envelope of what is possible. This feeds advances and drives down prices. Globalization also brings products to developing nations that would have no access to the necessities that these companies bring. The new market brings the companies into new nations and the nation benefits from the availability of the good or service. On the negative side things like low wages and outsourcing as well as taking business away from domestic companies can make globalization look less appealing. Globalization often forces ideas or situations on counties that may not want the influence. Globalization also feeds terrorism and creates worldwide tension. Some say these negatives outweigh the positives and that globalization should be avoided altogether, I am not quite ready to make that decision yet.
