Globalization

Prior to reading the articles on why globalization is good or bad I was on the fence as to how I felt about globalization. At that point I saw the positives and negatives of globalization and didn't believe that either side outweighed the other based on what I knew. However, after reading the pro-globalization article and learning about the anti-globalization article from my partner, I am leaning more towards the positive side of globalization. The way I see it is that globalization is inevitable. We have very little control over the fact that the world is going to change. That's a fact whether we like it or not. I strongly agree with the man who spoke in the TED video; globalization is a good thing, but it must be controlled and kept in check to ensure that it doesn't begin to cause problems. It's true that globalization has the ability to cause problems, as we read in the anti-globalization article; however, as the TED video man stated, as long as we can implement a common code of conduct and make sure that it is followed, globalization will work in our favor. So basically what I'm trying to say is that globalization has the ability to be positive, but it's going to take time and effort to get it there if we want to outweigh the negatives.

  2. I agree, setting aside the sweat shop working conditions globalization really has very little downfall compared to all the benefits the global community gets from it. I think if TED idea was taken hold of Globalization could be looked at very positively.

  3. I agree with your article and think that there needs to be contracts and some rules set on how globalization and multinational corporations are run. I like your point about globalization being inevitable and because of that think that we should establish contracts and codes of standards to guide the globalization path.
