Although I still believe globalization has the potential to have a more positive impact in the world, my opinion for the current moment has shifted more towards the negative side of the argument. As someone in the class pointed out, the idea of globalization is great, but the direction in which we are heading is more of a downward spiral. Right now the United States is pretty much the only country in charge of globalization, and it's almost impossible to believe that we can do this completely on our own. We are already in debt and yet we keep helping out other countries when no countries are helping us help them. Additionally, when we go into a country to improve it, with pretty much punch it right in the face with all of our commercialized brand name products and restaurants. Suddenly the country’s citizens will see a McDonald’s popping up in their village or a Starbucks in one of their most historical landmarks. I do not agree with this basically because it is an expedited version of what could be a positive outreach, but because we do not slowly and carefully integrate out “culture” into theirs, the people resent us for it.
