Before
reading the articles, I was in favor of globalization. After reading both the
yes and no sides, I believe that the consequences outweigh the advantages of
globalization. The yes side of the article was making a point that poverty is
being decreased and there is a bigger middle class, but they only show
statistics from China and India. This leads me to believe that most other
countries do not have such positive effects of globalization. The no article
brought up some very good points, and explained how America really is taking
over the entire world, or trying to, and it is more than the US alone can
handle. The US is spreading itself too far, and trying to assimilate too many
countries, many of which do not want to. The gaps in this new networking lead
to underground developments in the countries left behind such as nuclear
weapons. Also, disease is widespread in many other countries with which the US
is trying to network, but still does not provide them with health care. One
superpower alone is not nearly enough power to regulate the whole world.
Globalization has more of a negative impact on the globe than a positive one.
Even though I have the opposite opinion on Globalizationi I think that you stated your opinion very well and made some important key points that supported your argument. I also liked how you mentioned both the United States and other countries and the effect Globalization has on both.
ReplyDeleteI think that you raise a really valid point about the how the pro-globalization argument in the article only stated two or three examples of the decrease in poverty, and that that might hint that those are the only cases in which these statistics are true. I think it would be interesting to see some other statistics, to show either if the decrease is constant, or if it its having the opposite effect on most other countries.
