Reflection on the process of globalization

After reading the articles on globalization and learning about the positives and negatives that a currently associated with it, I believe that globalization in a broad perspective if very good for the well being of the global community. Through not only the boost in global economy but also on an individual level, people are more economically comfortable thanks to this process. What really caught my eye was how the article stated that that the city of Beijing Starbucks pays it employs $6 a day for an 8 hour work shift. Now that may seem terrible but in the same city a tea-house shop pays $3.75 a day for a 12 hour work shift. So what Starbucks has done is not only reduce the work day, ultimately increasing the quality of life but also almost double their pay. Earlier in the article it even states that globalization has pulled over 200 million people, out of poverty and into the middle class. This number just continues to rise. What this does is dramatically reducing those who are in poverty and boosting them into the middle class. On the other side some may see it as unjust to pay so little for this work, but in these communities some of these payments are well above the norm. That is why I think globalization is a positive process.
