Economic Security

Economic security is the most important human security. The situation that we discussed in class depicted a country who’s crashing economy was dragging the rest of the worlds economies down with it. In a situation like this, the economy must be fixed before any other problems can be fixed. This is because without a strong economy no country can provide as much (if any) help as it could were its economy strong. If a natural disaster strikes a 3rd world country, America cannot provide aid to that country if America doesn’t have the money to fund that aid. If there is a brutal war going on elsewhere in the world, America cannot provide military support without money. A country with a healthy economy can give help where it is needed. A country with a suffering economy cannot. Economic security allows a country to provide aid where other human securities are threatened. That is why economic security is the most important human security.
