Environment and Food

The environmental human security was not part of the UN's human securities because it was simply not considered an issue yet. Environmentalists did not exist. Also people did not understand the problems that pollution brings. Groundwater contamination was not a topic of distraction at this time. Also through an increase in technology the environmental impact of the human race has increased. Nuclear waste, toxic pesticides, and oil spills did not exist. Globalization has caused food to become human securities. In 1948 when these securities were published famine did exist it was just not publicized. Also if the UN were to add this as a human security there would be nothing that the world as a whole could do to help provide this as a security. Famine has always been present there has just not always been the publicity and the technology to help prevent it and to give relief.
