Democracy leads to Despotism.

Plato once said, "democracy leads to despotism." This statement can be proved when we look back to rulers in ancient time such as Caesar, Mussolini and Hitler who were all elected by their nation of people (a democracy). In each case, people were willing to give up some of their own freedom so that a strong ruler would come in and sole their problems. Many people at the time were not willing to take part in their nation or either scared of the way their nation was forming so they were willing to throw power to strong leaders with great words and actions who claimed to improve their nation. As history has shown however, each time individuals gave up control in their live they were controlled by the very person they chose to elect them. Ironically, democracy enables people to make free choices but those free choices could include electing a despot.
