I think that the U.S. should support their ally, Israel, and not allow the conflict to be voted on quite yet. In order for there to be peace, further negotiations need to be arranged. I believe Palestinians deserve to have their own statehood, but from what I read, they need to become more organized in their government and society. The Week magazine stated on the issue, “...admission to the U.N. guarantees access to the International Criminal Court, which can issue international arrest warrants for Israeli soldiers. That’s a useful tool for Palestinians ‘in their perpetual campaign to harass, delegitimize, and ultimately destroy Israel.’” Because the Israelis and Palestinians have such an immense hatred for each other, peace will not come easily. By allowing Palestine to be its own state will just further this hatred because many countries, along with their allies, will disagree. Palestinians can use this new power in the International Criminal Court to get revenge on Israel, granting that this conflict will continue into the future.
