The United Sates should not necessarily choose to automatically veto Palestine’s statehood, but they shouldn’t necessarily allow them to automatically gain it. The issue is that Palestine has every right to become a state, the problem is going about it. Currently the U.S. has decided to veto Palestine’s proposal, in hopes that they will negotiate with Israel. The problem with Palestine becoming a state is they do not actually have a set area that they can officially be called theirs, and as soon as they become a state, they are going to gain another level of confidence and fight even harder for a permanent and “fair” amount of land. Because the U.S. has long supported Israel, allowing Palestine to become a state is not in support of Israel’s best interest. The U.S. constantly thinks it needs to control what is going on in order parts of the world. It would be a smart decision if they stayed out of it as much as possible all together, and allow that part of the world to make the decision.
