Democracy leads to Despotism

I do believe that Democracy leads to Despotism. In a perfect Democratic society each and every person would have their own say, but I believe that as time passes we would find many people would have the same ideas and wants. The "despot" would be someone who wants the same things as the general public, but has a better way of carrying it on to benefit the society. As more people started to appreciate someone who understood the foundation of their ideas, more people would join. This person is thinking for many others, and democracy is lost. If a society was true to the idea that democracy is each person having a say in what they want, despotism would never be found. That idea seems a bit to hard to maintain so I believe that there is no way to properly maintain democracy, therefore letting despotism take over. It would be a simple task to keep democracy its own thing if within the society everyone had completely different thoughts.
