Israeli Palestinian Conflict

After reading both of the articles about the Israeli Palestinian conflict, there was one sentence that really jumped out and stuck on me, "Even some relatively liberal Israeli politicians say Mr. Abbas's plans will do little to end conflict." from the article "In Seeking Statehood, Palestinians Stir Concern". When people around me discuss this conflict that is essentially the way that I feel about it. No matter what decision gets made one of the countries is not going to be happy about it, and if that is the case then the conflict will go on for a much longer time once the "original conflict" is resolved. In my opinion I believe that the governments need to come up with some sort of peace negotiation to at least extend the uncertainty of a decision. No plan is going to discourage either country from attacking the other, there has been so much tension built up that, at this point there is no way that the conflict will be easily, quietly and peacefully resolved therefore the world is going to have quite a large problem on its hands.

  1. I agree with what you're saying, but I am curious if you feel the U.S. will be greatly impacted by this large problem? I feel either way the U.S. will be deeply affected, but I am wondering if you think there is any way they can avoid being deep in the conflict.

  2. I also agree, that Israel and Palestine should settle things over a peaceful negotiation. I just don't see this in the future though, because Palestine's actions of enrolling into the UN was partially sparked from unsuccessful negotiations.

  3. I don't fully agree with your blatant statement about them just drawing up a peace negotiation... they have tried that multiple times in the past but one always breaks it in some way or another.
